Carousel in the Communityfamily fun in the downtown core
The Carousel Players Community Celebrations are a time for families, and particularly children, re-engage with their community in a safe and comfortable way. The goal is to safely bring families together to experience live arts activities created especially for the COVID times we are living in.
The Celebrations begin with the easily distanced event of a scavenger hunt before progressing to more interactive activities through the winter and spring. The Carousel Players Community Celebrations project is made up of four events.
FOR AGES 4 AND UP
At-Home Adventures follows George and Martha, Carousel Players’ beloved hippopotamus puppets designed by Shawn Kettner for a previous production adapted from the George and Martha books by James Marshall. The campaign features a series of guessing game posts on our Facebook and Instagram (@carouselplayers) where George and Martha engage with St Catharines businesses while remaining safely at home.
You are encouraged to guess which business George and Martha got their items from and, two days later, the ‘reveal’ post tells all, with a special shout out to that particular business. They may be taking part in online learning, enjoying some curbside pick up from one of our outstanding restaurants, or doing a fun at-home activity with items they purchased from a local business.
Step into the whimsical land of Winter World! The St. Catharines Central Library atrium will be transformed into the Snow Queen’s Palace. What other frosty friends may be found in the palace? There are three weeks in December to find out!
Visit the Library on December 12 and 19 to meet with members of Carousel Players, or come by any time the Library is open to explore the Snow Queen’s Winter World!
Monday – Saturday: 9-5pm
Special Late Hours Tuesdays Until 8pm!

Carousel Players has hidden costumes, puppets and set pieces from our past shows in local storefronts and inside various downtown establishments. Can you find them all?
Families are encouraged to stop by local businesses to find all of the items on our scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt will remain in place for several weeks, so you’ll have time to track every one down. You can download our handy Hunt Hints scavenger hunt map to help find all the surprises.
Families who find all the items will be entered in a draw win a prize!
