Performing Opportunities
Performers who are passionate about Theatre for Young Audiences are enthusiastically encouraged to apply to Carousel Players for our 2026 General Auditions.
Carousel Players is committed to telling stories that are inclusive, reflecting the multitude of diverse voices that make up our community, and we welcome applications from artists of all backgrounds.
All audition submissions will be reviewed by Artistic Director, Monica Dufault. Only those selected for an audition time will be contacted.
Artists who apply will be considered for casting in the 2026/2027 season, and for future projects, including Carousel Players’ ongoing new play development work. Touring productions in 2026/27 are:
Peg and the Yeti – adapted by Monica Dufault from the book by Kenneth Oppel
Peg has grown up on her family’s fishing boat, and has caught pretty much every fish that swam. But Peg wants more! She wants big, she wants better, she wants best! She wants to climb the tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest. And she wants to see a Yeti. Her parents help her to create the world of her travels, to reach the top of the Himalayas and even dodge an avalanche, until eventually she does meet a Yeti!
Roles to be cast:
- Mom – Peg’s Mother – an East coast Fisherwoman (30-45) – also plays the Yeti with Dad
- Dad – Peg’s Father – an East coast Fisherman (30-45) – also plays the Yeti with Mom
- Peg – a young adventurer who wants to see the world
Roll For It! A DnD Adventure – by Nicholas Eddie
It’s the last week of summer holidays, and the final game of a long-running DnD campaign for Nick and Tyler. Stakes are high as Nick is about to move cities, and they have no idea when they might see each other again. To make matters worse, the other two players are no-shows! Enter Tyler’s younger sister, Jess, who wants to join in. Can the game be salvaged? And where will the adventure take them, as the audience participates in the choices being made? This is a fast-paced funny play that flips between the DnD adventure story, and the real world kids who are playing the game.
Roles to be cast:
- Nick – the highly creative dungeon master for this game who loves his mom
- Tyler – a DnD enthusiast who just wants things to stay the same
- Jess – Tyler’s younger sister who has never played DnD before, and doesn’t have many friends
In person auditions will be held in Toronto on June 16th, and in St. Catharines on June 17th. Please indicate in your application which city you would like to audition in.
Please note that Carousel Players’ work is primarily school touring productions, and that all performers are also responsible for loading and unloading the sets, and setting up/striking at each performance location.
NOTE: For actors who have been seen at Carousel auditions in the last two years, please don’t re-submit for another general audition. Just send us a note expressing your interest in being considered for one of these roles.
