Carousel Players’ Giant Puppet will lead everyone in song and dance, creating a community that is together and making art.

Puppet Making Materials
  • Newsprint (newspapers, flyers, other soft paper) – lots and lots
  • Cardboard – two large boxes worth
  • Craft paper – 3′ x 2′ piece
  • White school glue – one large bottle
  • 3 broomsticks or long poles
  • 1 large bedsheet or large pieces of fabric
  • Masking or painter’s tape
  • White acrylic paint
  • Colourful acrylic paint
  • Decorations

Tools: Scissors, stapler, paint brushes, sandpaper

Questions about bring the Giant Puppet Party to your event

What age group is this activity suitable for? This workshop is suitable for children ages 4 and up.

What is the maximum number of participants? The maximum number of participants is 10 groups of up to 6 people per group.

What is the duration of the activity? The workshop itself is 45-60 minutes long, depending upon the number of participants. The Dance Party is approximately 25 minutes long.

What does my group need to provide? Please provide one 6′ table for each group in the puppet building activity, and access to power for our sound system. 

What are the space requirements for this workshop? Each participiant-made puppet requires a space 6′ by 6′ for dancing and Nadine the Ondine needs a 10′ x 10′ area with a minimum 15′ ceiling. We recommend a gymnasium, high-ceiling community hall, or outdoor space for this activity.

How long will you be at our event? We will need access to the space where the activity takes place before the workshop and after the dance party. Load in and set up time is 30 minutes, and load out time is 15 minutes.

The Drama Garden is an promenade style theatre experience throughout Jaycee Gardens Park. Participants will stop at stations along the paved pathways and engage with short performances and participatory activities. Enjoy puppetry with Alexa Fraser, visit with the Dragon on the Hill, take part in our Carousel of Hope craft activity, and more!
