Puppets on Land in a Digital Age
A Culture Days Workshop

Carousel Players is pleased to announce “Puppets on Land in a Digital Age”, an exciting new project for Culture Days at Rodman Hall on Saturday, October 1st from 1-4 pm.

This interactive 3-hour workshop has participants create puppets influenced by our digital age. With guidance from workshop leaders, participants will be led to explore the ways in which their puppets interact in 5 diverse theatrical spaces.

This unique workshop compliments Carousel Player’s new play in development, “iChild”  taking place during the 2016.17 season.  “iChild”, also at Rodman Hall, is an investigation of the cross-section between technology, language, heritage, space, contemporary art and their place in children’s lives. The piece will be written by 25 students from Harriet Tubman Public School in St. Catharines.

What is space? How do we take up space? How do we relate to space and land? What is Cyber Space? How do we enter Cyber Space and retain our own humanity? Puppets on Land in a Digital Age asks these questions and more and encourages participants to explore their thoughts while engaging with the artistic and local community.

Puppets on Land in a Digital Age will take place as part of Culture Days on Saturday, October 1st from 1-4pm at Rodman Hall Art Gallery, and is open to all ages. The workshop will be led by Carousel’s Artistic Director Jessica Carmichael and local puppeteer and visual artist Clelia Scala.

This project was made possible by the City of St. Catharines
