Carousel Players was pleased to to be able to continue to provide our free Playlinks program to select schools throughout the Niagara region during our 2017 spring school tour of Boys, Girls, and Other Mythological Creatures.
We are grateful to Meridian Credit Union for their support of this impactful and valuable program.
Carousel Players is proud to have offered Playlinks, a free outreach program for all schools who booked a performance with Carousel during the 2015-16 season.
The program was two-fold: a professional artist would visit classrooms at a school a week before their scheduled performance. For approximately 10-15 minutes they would engage students, igniting curiosity about the play and leaving children with questions to consider when seeing the performance. The second workshop was offered one week after the performance, where an artist would return to a school, for up to six 50 minute sessions, offering age-specific activities linked to the Carousel play. The workshops were a incredible success, deepening the students understanding of the story and its themes by exploring curriculum connections in meaningful ways that could be touched upon all year.
We thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous support of our Playlinks Program, and we thank all schools and students who participated in this unique and meaningful experience.
